Originally from Washington State, I've never been able to stay put in one place . . . and I like it that way! I've lived in Germany, Colorado, Scotland, Nevada, and Canada so far. Finally, in search of a life by the beach, I've ended up on the Pacific coast of Panama!
I tend to divide my life up into chapters. After childhood, and a very fun but short stint at college, I joined the Air Force. I spent four years at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany, working in Accounting and Finance. It was in Europe that my love for travel was ignited. After several years of putzing about, working at this job or that, I was picked up by the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller. I moved metal at the Enroute Centers in Seattle and Denver for twenty-three years before retiring on my fiftieth birthday. (Yes, I know . . . I'm lucky!). To celebrate, I put all my belongings in storage and hit the road. Based in Glasgow, Scotland, I traveled through Europe, Africa, and Asia for fourteen months. Good times! Then began the artistic chapter of my life.
I began painting a long time ago, specializing in oils. In Colorado, I exhibited at Oakley Gallery and Main Street Gallery in Grand Junction, and at the Blue Pig Gallery and Craig Gallery in Palisade. For three short, heady months, I was a guest artist at Andrea's in Scottsdale, Arizona. For a while, my focus was on vignettes of classic automobiles, and a series featuring the native desert plants from the high deserts of Colorado. Here in Panama, my work has shifted to creations featuring the tropical seed pods I find on the grounds. It's a fun new craft!
As for my writing, I had already reached the wrong side of fifty when I started, beginning with a travel blog as I wandered the world. I have since finished two novels of a planned trilogy, and am working on the third book...I have unfortunately left my protagonists in dire straits! I am still searching for an agent . . . wish me luck!
